Study Groups 2011
Special interest groups are underway for 2011 with a new Writing Group to be added to the interesting variety of topics and leisure activities being catered for. Days, dates, times and venues are given under the list of available groups below. WRITING GROUP
A great opportunity for members who would like to write about episodes from their lives is being offered with the forming of a new Writing Group under the tutorage of John Bonallack. John is a semi-retired former teacher and editor of the School Journal and now writes and publishes books for young reluctant readers. He proposes the group would start with oral stories and after discussion and comment, look at how to turn them into written accounts. The meetings will be held monthly on a day to be decided and will be hosted by John at his home in Johnsonville. Numbers will be limited to eight to ten members, preferably people with access to MS Word on a home computer.

Art History Group: The group meets on alternate Thursdays 10.30 to 12 noon at The Lounge at St Ninian’s Uniting Parish in Karori Road, Karori.

Current Issues:
This group was formed when all meetings were held in members' homes and many were educational courses. Although the emphasis is now on formal lectures, the convener, Vincent Gray, believes there is still a place for house meetings which aim at tackling topics not dealt with in the formal lecture programme. He is keen to recruit new members and to feature any topic they may wish to contribute. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, at the Gray’s home, 75 Silverstream Road, Crofton Downs.
